The Parthenon of books, a full-scale replica of the temple on the Acropolis, is made up with some 100.000 copies of banned books donated from the public, as well as publishers and institutions. Comme son nom l’indique, Parthenon of books, le projet de l’artiste argentine Marta Minujín prendra la forme de cette construction grecque, mais en livres. Son œuvre sera élevée sur la Friedrichsplatz, à Cassel, en Allemagne, un lieu qui fut le théâtre de nombreux autodafés nazis en 1933. Marta Minujín a déjà construit une œuvre similaire, El Partenón de libros, en 1983, à partir des livres censurés par le gouvernement argentin.
